SAU Institutions Come Together to Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week 2026


Constituent colleges and departments under Sri Aurobindo University (SAU) marked World Breastfeeding Week 2026 with a series of awareness programmes, poster presentations, role-plays, health talks, and community campaigns held throughout the first week of August. The initiatives, organized by multiple institutions including Bhandari Group of Hospitals & Institutions (BGHI) College of Nursing, IIMS College of Nursing, the Department of Community Medicine at Sri Aurobindo Medical College & PG Institute (SAIMS), the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and SAIMS College of Nursing, reaffirmed the university's shared commitment to maternal and child health.

This year's global theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," guided all the programmes, with each institution designing activities suited to its student and patient community.

BGHI College of Nursing Hosts Poster Presentation and Role Play

Bhandari Group of Hospitals & Institutions, College of Nursing, Indore, celebrated World Breastfeeding Week on 3rd August 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. B.Sc. Nursing 4th-year students conducted a poster presentation and role-play based on this year's theme, alongside an informative health talk to raise awareness among patients and attendants about exclusive breastfeeding and its benefits for mother and baby. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Prerna Pandey, Principal, BGHI College of Nursing, with support from all Heads of Departments and faculty members.

IIMS College of Nursing Organizes Nukkad Natak and Pamphlet Drive

IIMS College of Nursing, Indore, organized an awareness programme to educate mothers and families about exclusive breastfeeding. Highlights included a Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by B.Sc. Nursing Final Year students, distribution of awareness pamphlets, and focused promotion of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months to support better maternal and child health.

Community Medicine, SAIMS, Conducts Week-Long Campaign and Poster Competition

The Department of Community Medicine, Sri Aurobindo Medical College & PG Institute, Indore, organized a week-long awareness campaign at UHTC and SAIMS (Near OPD) to promote breastfeeding for every newborn. The campaign included awareness sessions, community engagement activities, and health education drives to encourage new mothers to adopt and continue healthy breastfeeding practices.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. & Head Dr. Ajit Deshpande along with UHTC In-charge Dr. Mayank Rahul, and coordinated by Dr. Rashi Nagar (JR1) with dedicated interns. A Poster Competition was also organized, evaluated by Prof. & Head Dr. Gunjan Kela (Pediatrics), Prof. Dr. Sunita Mishra (OBGY), and Prof. Dr. Rashmi.

Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Reaffirms Commitment to Maternal Health

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Sri Aurobindo Medical College & P.G. Institute, Indore, celebrated World Breastfeeding Week 2026 by emphasizing the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and empowering mothers with the knowledge and support needed to give every child the healthiest possible start in life.

SAIMS College of Nursing Holds Health Education Programme at KMC & Pediatric OPD

Students of SAIMS College of Nursing conducted a Health Education Programme at the KMC & Pediatric OPD to raise awareness about breastfeeding and infant nutrition, aiming to empower mothers with knowledge for a healthier start to life and stronger future generations.

A Shared Mission Across the University

From poster presentations and role plays to street theatre, pamphlet distribution, and community outreach campaigns, the week-long observance saw active participation from nursing and medical students, faculty, and clinical departments across SAU's institutions. The collective effort underscored the university's ongoing dedication to promoting exclusive breastfeeding, supporting new mothers, and building a healthier future generation.
