Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry Conducts Tobacco Cessation and De Addiction Awareness Program at Indore District Jail

Indore June 2 2026 On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day the Department of Public Health Dentistry Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry Indore organized a Tobacco Cessation and De Addiction Awareness Program at Indore District Jail. The initiative aimed to educate inmates about the harmful effects of tobacco and substance abuse while encouraging them to adopt a healthier and addiction free lifestyle.

The program was conducted in the esteemed presence of Jail Superintendent Mr. Jawahar Mandloi and Deputy Jail Superintendent Mr. Upadhyay. Addressing the inmates the jail administration emphasized the importance of leading a tobacco free and drug free life and encouraged participants to contribute towards building a healthier society.

During the awareness session, experts from Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry Dr. Aatham Jonwal Dr. Vikram Yadav and Dr. Vipul Piplad provided detailed information on the adverse effects of tobacco consumption including oral cancer dental diseases and several other serious health complications. The speakers highlighted that tobacco use remains one of the leading causes of preventable diseases and stressed the importance of quitting tobacco to improve overall health and wellbeing.

A large number of inmates actively participated in the program and gained valuable insights into the health risks associated with tobacco and other addictive substances. The session also included guidance on tobacco cessation strategies de addiction measures and the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices. Participants enthusiastically pledged to stay away from tobacco and substance abuse and to embrace a healthier future.

The successful coordination and execution of the program were supported by Mr. Pawan Kumar Jain Public Relations Officer PRO whose efforts played a significant role in the events success. Interns and members of the healthcare team from Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry also actively contributed to the program.
