Community Health Nursing Department Activities Month of January 2026 SAIMS College of Nursing

The Community Health Nursing Department of SAIMS College of Nursing actively conducted various academic and outreach activities during the month of January 2026 under the guidance and leadership of Dr Reshmi Siby Principal SAIMS College of Nursing whose constant support and motivation enabled the department to successfully organize multiple activities beyond the college premises. The department routinely conducts outreach programmes including disaster mock drills health education sessions for community people and general awareness activities for the local population with the objective of strengthening community health services and enhancing students practical learning experience. As part of these initiatives an activity was conducted on 15 January 2026 where BSc Nursing seventh semester students were given the opportunity to perform a role play on a disaster mock drill at the Primary Health Centre Paliya in the presence of Medical Officer Dr Hemant Raghuwanshi. The disaster mock drill aimed to review the emergency preparedness plan of the organization help students understand emergency colour coding identify areas requiring improvement enhance the ability to respond quickly during disaster situations and recognize possible errors and risks in emergency management. The activity was successfully organized by Prof Dr Amita Joseph Head of the Community Health Nursing Department and Mrs Megha Kurmi Associate Professor Community Health Nursing Department Through this hands on practical exposure students gained valuable knowledge improved their disaster management skills and developed confidence in handling emergency situations thereby strengthening their role as competent and responsible nursing professionals.
