Dr. Mahak Bhandari Creates History with World’s First Transcontinental Hernia Surgeries
Sri Aurobindo University proudly celebrates a landmark achievement in the field of global healthcare and surgical innovation as Dr Mahak Bhandari, Pro-Chancellor, Sri Aurobindo University, successfully performed the World’s First Transcontinental Robotic Hernia Surgeries while operating remotely from IRCAD France.
In this historic milestone, Dr Bhandari conducted 12 tele-robotic procedures, including 9 robotic hernia surgeries and 3 robotic gallbladder (cholecystectomy) surgeries, demonstrating the immense potential of next-generation surgical technologies. The procedures were performed across nearly 8,000 kilometres, connecting surgical expertise in France with patients in India through advanced robotic systems and real-time communication networks.
This achievement represents more than a technological breakthrough.
