Department of Surgical Oncology

The Department of Surgical Oncology was established in the year 2012 with aim to provide quality treatment for the cancer patient at affordable cost and providing highly skilled training in the field of surgical oncology through its Super specialty program for the aspirants desiring after doing their Master of Surgery degree completed.

The department was started by

Dr. Sanjay M. Desai MBBS, MS, MCH, Professor and HOD.

Total two M.Ch. surgical oncology seats per session were recognized by then MCI in the year 2012.

Since its start the department has treated thousands of cancer patients with affordable cost and free under various government scheme including PMJAY(Ayushman), Railways, CGHS, ESI, ECHS etc.

Till now 7 batches of M.Ch. in Surgical Oncology has completed their degree program.

The department is doing various kind of surgical oncology work in the fields of head and neck cancers, breast and thorax cancers, Gastrointestinal and hepatopancreaticobiliary cancers, urooncology, gyneconcology, orthooncology and all general surgical oncology routine and emergency works.

The department is working with the well coordination within all supportive departments present in the Institute so that individualized and quality care can be given to every patient.

The department is running with a 9am to 4pm outpatient facility, daily planned surgeries and 24×7emergrncy services.

Presently

Dr. Sanjay M.Desai (MBBS, MS, MCH) is the Professor & head of the department and Dr. Vinod Kumar Dhakad (MBBS, MS, FIAGES, MCH) is Associate Professor is faculty.

Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, Dr. Bonny A Joseph, Dr. Varun Prakash, Dr. Harsha Deepti are working as M.Ch. senior resident in the department.
