Department of Skin
SAMC & PGI is running the DEPARTMENT OF DERMATOLOGY, VENEREOLOGY & LEPROSY since inception. We as a dermatologist treat dermatological diseases not only with medicine but also provide various investigational, therapeutic and aesthetic procedures in the department.
The Department runs special clinics for specific dermatological diseases like Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Pigmentary dermatoses, Hansen disease, sexually transmitted infections, Vesiculobullous diseases, autoimmune disease.
We manage the routine cases like Acne, Dermatophytosis, Hair fall on OPD basis along with the IPD management of severe dermatological disease like Pemphigus (including Rituximab therapy), Lepra reactions, Erythroderma, drug reactions like Steven Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis requiring ICU admission etc.
Two new machines have recently been added to our department. One is US FDA-approved Prime Laze Quadruple DIODE LASER indicated for hair removal and the other is CellinaPR Fractional RF Technology (6 in one) device with multiple treatment modalities like fillers, subcision, and micro needling for Scars, wrinkle and facial rejuvenation.
One US FDA approved machine IRIS BLUE TONING (Nd: yag) LASER by Pyramid health care is going to be added in the department soon with indication to treat Melasma, Freckle, tattoo removal etc.
Other modalities available are Phototherapy for the treatment of vitiligo, psoriasis; Cryotherapy for warts, molluscum; Iontophoresis for hyperhidrosis; Electrofulguration and radiofrequency machines for superficial skin lesions like moles, corn, verruca, molluscum.
OT procedures like punch biopsy, Chemical peels, vitiligo surgeries & Nail surgeries among others are performed on regular basis.
Lab procedures include microscopy using KOH mount, Gram stain, ZN stain & Tzanck smear etc.
Department is serving for the well-being of patient by providing quality investigation and appropriate therapeutics at the same center.
