The Department of Orthopaedics at SAMC & PGI, Indore is functioning since inception of institute in 2004 and has a distinction of producing many distinguished surgeons in the field of Orthopaedics over the years. We have an experienced, multitalented team of Orthopaedic surgeons. In addition, we have a team of 19 resident doctors undergoing Masters with yearly intake of 12 post graduates.

Excellence in patient care, research, and education is the overall goal of the Department of Orthopaedics, including –

Trauma and general orthopedics: fully equipped OR well supported by Radiology, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery departments.

Joint replacement: Experience of more than 10 years in joint replacement surgeries. Other than TKR and THR, revision arthroplasty is also performed. There is separate physiotherapy department for post-operative patients.

Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine unit: Arthroscopy is regularly being done including Knee, Shoulder, etc.

Spine and Back Surgery: All kinds of spine surgeries, including disc prolapse and spinal fixation.

Paediatric Surgeries: including cerebral palsy, CDH, CTEV, Perthes disease, SCFE.

Hand Surgery: well-equipped for management of crush injury hand and various fractures in the hand and wrist.

Academics & Training: The Department follows a good academic training program for postgraduate students, which includes seminars, journal and case presentations, along with cadaveric and simulator workshops at LASER.

The department has published a total of 97 publications in various national and international journals. The PG students by winning numerous awards in several state and national conferences have added fame to the department of Orthopaedics at SAMC & PGI, Indore.
