Nursing Education, What & Why

Nursing education refers to formal learning and training in the science of nursing. This includes the functions and duties in the physical care of patients, and a combination of different disciplines that both accelerates the patient’s return to health and helps maintain it.
Nurse education consists of the theoretical and practical training provided to nurses with the purpose to prepare them for their duties as nursing care professionals.

Courses for Nursing

  • ANM (Diploma in Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery) – 2 years program
  • GNM (Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery) – 3.5 years program
  • B.Sc. in Nursing (Basic)
  • Bachelor’s Degree course (4 years)
  • M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D.

The primary goals of nursing education remain the same as nurses must be prepared to meet diverse patient’s needs; function as leaders; and advance science that benefits patients and the capacity of health professionals to deliver safe, quality patient care.
