Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodopedics

Sri Aurobindo College of Dentistry, Sri Aurobindo University

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodopedics, established in 2006 at Sri Aurobindo College of Dental Sciences, has been an insurgent force ever since its foundation. With the primary goal being its namesake that is Ortho – Correct Position and Dontics – Teeth, the department has forged its long road ahead. The pivot ammunition of the faculty is its prowess of knowledge in craniofacial growth and the development of the dentition and occlusion, harnessing the same to prevent and correct occlusal discrepancies in patients of all age groups.

The faculty starts clinical training of their undergraduates from the 2nd year of their Bachelor’s Degree course. The training checks boxes for theoretical, practical and clinical groundings. Students are imbibed with the knowledge of basic wire bending, examining and diagnosing dental and craniofacial anomalies, treating mild malocclusions with removable and functional orthodontic appliances.

The postgraduate program aims at building clinicians with a panoramic foresight for treatment outcome. The students are trained in all the in’s and out’s of orthodontic specialty with special focus on clinical care and patient satisfaction using advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities. Paired with a solid theoretical and clinical footing under the guidance of experienced and established faculty members, the students are able to develop and master the trade.
